From Manhattan: F train in the Uptown/Queens direction to Roosevelt Island Station (One stop pastLexington and 63rd St. station).
Or take #6 train to the 59th Street Station and exit the subway station; walk to the F train at Lexington and 63rd St. station (you will have a “walking transfer” between these stations); or walk east on 59thStreet to Second Ave. and take the tram. See tram instructions below.
From Queens: F train towards Manhattan to Roosevelt Island Station (one stop past 21st Street-Queensbridge).
Tram is available from the 59th Street/2nd Avenue in Manhattan and is a scenic ride over the East River. After exiting the tram, look for the information kiosk, from there, you may prefer to walk on Main Street or take the RIOC red bus for 25 cents.
Q 102 from Queens brings you directly onto the island and there is a stop by the Bar & Grill, just a few steps from the subway station and near where the festivities will be held.
By Car From Manhattan
Take the 59th St. Queensborough Bridge-Upper level (Access Ramp from 58/57th Streets), bear right to take the ramp toward Roosevelt Island/Northern Blvd. Turn right on 21st Street. Next, turn left on Queens Plaza South and then at the T??, turn right onto Vernon Blvd. Turn left onto 36th Avenue, which brings you to the magenta Roosevelt Island Bridge. By Car From Queens/Long Island
Take the Grand Central Parkway West to the last exit to Hoyt Avenue/31st Street. Drive along the service road and turn left on 21st Street. Turn right on 36th Avenue, then over the magenta Roosevelt Island Bridge. See parking instructions below.
By Car From Brooklyn
Take 278 East to exit 33 Humboldt Street toward Mc Guinness Blvd. Continue on Mc Guinness Blvd and over Pulaski Bridge. After bridge, turn left on 48th Avenue (or any of the next left turns) then right to Vernon Blvd. Continue on Vernon Blvd. Turn left onto 36th Ave which brings you to the magenta Roosevelt Island Bridge. By Car From the Bronx
Take the Triboro Bridge and stay right. You will make first right onto Astoria Blvd. Take a right on Astoria and then make a left onto 21st street. Continue on 21st St.. Then turn right on 36th Avenue, then over the magenta Roosevelt Island Bridge. See parking instructions below.
By Car From Staten Island
After the Verrazano Bridge, get on 278 East to exit 33 Humboldt Street and follow directions for Brooklyn above.
There is a parking garage on the island that is available immediately on the right after crossing the Roosevelt Island Bridge and before driving down a ramp to street level. Exiting the parking garage on foot (C level from the Parking garage elevator located on the south side of the parking structure), you may prefer to walk (turn left/south) on Main Street or take the RIOC red bus (stop just outside of parking structure) for 25 cents to the festivities. There are no other visitor parking facilities on the island and finding meter parking along the street can be difficult.
